Description
The Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP cherry tomato is a traditional variety grown on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, where the volcanic soil is rich in nutrients. The name Piennolo comes from the ancient custom of hanging clusters of freshly picked tomatoes from balconies to dry. They are called pacchetelle because the fully ripened tomatoes are cut in half after harvesting.
